It’s hard to believe that we’re already in the ninth month of the year! Where did summer go? Must be that we’re all so very busy that September snuck up on us, and luckily with such great news!

Linda Warren’s Harlequin American ONCE A COWBOY not only got a great cover last year, but the book
was fabulous as well. Don’t take just take my word for it. It’s a Maggie finalist in Short Contemporary. In addition, Linda’s current release TEXAS HEIR (out this month) received a Top Pick designation from RT! Congratulations Linda!

In book sale news, first up is Kerrelyn Sparks, who is thrilled to announce a new three-book contract with HarperCollins for books 6, 7, and 8 of the Love at Stake series. Book 6 is THE SECRET LIFE OF A VAMPIRE, which is already available for pre-order on Amazon and is releasing at the end of March 2009. Christy Janisse is thrilled to announce Wild Rose Press has bought HIS KEEPER. This is Christy’s third

In further WHRWA sale news, P.J. Mellor has accepted two new contracts with Kensington: a two-book single title contract and a two-novella contract. Both novellas have already been assigned: ESCAPING CHRISTMAS will be in the Christmas 2009 anthology and a firefighter story will be in the 2010 firefighter anthology.

Tera Lynn Childs is floating sky high and seeing stars of the Hollywood kind because Fremantle Media (the company that produces American Idol) has optioned the television rights to her debut novel OH. MY. GODS. on behalf of Ashley Tisdale (of High School Musical fame)!

Great news continues, as Sophie Jordan (WHRWA’s own Sharie Kohler) has been promoted! Avon has promoted Sophie Jordan from her previous level of Avon Romance to the level of Avon Treasure!! Sophie is also featured in the summer issue of KATY magazine. Congrats Sharie!

In release news, Teri Thackston’s second paranormal romance SCENT OF LAVENDER was released
August 21.

Laura Gompertz aka Lynn Lorenz also has news in that her novel, RUSH IN THE DARK, the second in the Common Powers series, was released Sept. 2. She’ll follow with a Halloween novella in October.
SECOND MOON is a paranormal about a witch and a dying werewolf, and will be epubbed by Liquid Silver Books. Laura is also waiting to hear the final okay about her military novella, IT TAKES A HERO, which is the story of a Marine, wounded in Iraq, and the physical therapist who helps him recover his life and his career. This ebook will come out in Nov., at Loose Id, in an anthology. She also has a December release. Wow!
