Dawn Temple
Dawn Temple didn’t grow up harboring a secret ambition to become a writer. There are no adorable tales penned by a five-year-old or binders full of sappy adolescent coming-of-age stories hidden in her mother’s attic. However, Dawn did find her own quirky way of expressing her creativity. She cast herself into her favorite television shows.Over the years, she’s sung with Josie and the Pussycats, weathered the Great Depression with The Waltons, and fought crime with Charlie’s Angels. During her awkward hormonal years, she abandoned the then love of her life — Donny Osmond — and pursued a nearly debilitating crush on Bo Duke!
Fortunately, those years passed quickly, and Dawn focused her energies and creativity on more grown-up dreams: college, career, marriage and kids. A dozen years later, she had a dusty yet hard-won degree in the back of her closet, a husband, twin sons and a career as a stay-at-home-mom. Then one day, out of the blue, her artistic muse reawakened and demanded, “Are you finally ready to admit you’ve wanted to write fiction your whole life?”
In a blast of creative genius, she answered, “Yeah. I guess.” And so it began.
Dawn wrote her first book in secret, only admitting to her husband what she was doing when he discovered her stash of research books on Texas divorce laws. Once she’d been “outed,” Dawn joined Romance Writers of America®, found an awesome critique group and began entering contests and submitting her work. That first novel is still stored in the computer, but Dawn’s second book, A Will To Love, a 2005 Golden Heart Finalist, fulfilled her unknown childhood dream.
A Will To Love was bought by Silhouette Special Edition, catapulting Dawn from “wannabe” to “gonnabe.”
